I wish they'd come up with a sub-Milan Mercury. Tho the '08 Focus may not be the ideal basis for it, the C170 platform (from what I've read) is still excellent and the only pricepoint Merc would have to deal with is starting lower than the Milan (very different from the 'cheapest Ford')... so they could offer everything they're not putting in the Focus in a MERCURY version 2.3! (2.5?... GTDI2.0?... wonder if the 3.0pip could fit) the other half of the tailights (the trunklid part) classier wheels a more moderate/upscale dashtrim of course a waterfall grille :-) umm... a liftback version of the sedan & coupe? ( can look the same, just a bit of reinforcement & a one-piece rearwindow/trunklid) ... & probably the colors blue & white *cough*Edge'07*cough*
With the list of possible features growing to the point that option pkgs can add as much as the total cost of a bargain basement stripper, it'd be a way of countering both the entry-entry brands - by having the superior dynamics Seems to me there's plenty of 'room' between ZoomZoom & SwedishSensibilities for a more mature buyer (near-30 instead of GenWhatever or! 'Settled') who wants competent-yet-comfyand stylish over kewl. |
