large        as is
next-decade version in progress
legend:
*dual-backs = sedan/coupe look with dual rear opening, full-hatch + small trunk panel
cc = coupe-cabrio hardtop convertible
Zxs = lowered sedan version of Aviator-Z(MkX)
D385 = 3.7v6, opt:supercharged, alu.hood&trunklid, min. overhangs (MkR or Mk6,Mk8 - NOT the MkS 'concept')
E386/D472 = 4.6v8 only (MkT/MkV or Mk"Grand"/MkG-Touring)
X2C = stretched RX8 platform, Rwd na-3.5v6 & turbos only.
2+2d = suicide rear doors (RX8/Conti'60s-style)
CV** = CommercialVehicle (taxi-cops-rentals) non-retail versions
export = Zc-Zxs, Aviator-Z, Sentinel, D385 (all std diesel6, opt 3.7 v6, Yamaha 4.4v8?)

engines: (also see mechanical differentiation )
5.0 mid-stroke version of the 4.6/5.4 v8, for Mercury Panthers and Lincoln HRL.
Forced induction (Mercuryspeed?).
The Yamaha 4.4 v8 for the Lincoln D385 & sportscar. oh well...
A hybrid system that could be added to any drivetrain for +hp & +mpg.

new Mercury features:
Adjustable suspensions that can do tricks like adj. ride & height.
Adaptive-cornering headlites - HID & halogen.
A nav that can be dealer installed/retrofitted.
A smart-key start-button remote-start option.
New paint colors that are different from Ford or Lincoln & used for the entire Merc lineup.
Easy-swap aluminum/real wood(/titanium? black chrome?) trim options.
All front seats have tilting/height & lumbar adjustments.
A version of the Mustang's MyColor variable IP lighting.

Fords will offer maximum economy and max.performance. Manual tranmissions will be avail. on all models, with all engines. Fusion/427 styling on all fwd models. New B/C (sub-Fusion) models create brand-within-brand: FLX. To counter-act decline of truck/truck-based models, more flexible manufacturing leads to more models/styles/niches on fewer platforms.
Lincoln will be powerful but specialize in luxury, not try to be sporty; super smooth adaptive automatics only, intelligent active suspension is std. Zephyr-concept styling on all fwd-awd models but with new crosshatch grille.
Mercury will have sophisticated styling, features, and mechanicals. Ex: paddle-shifting smg/dsg (optional) and adjustable suspensions (standard), so they could be sport, normal, or cushy as desired. Each Mercury model will have a wide price range to offer base to Lincoln-level features. Milan/S-Max/(Meta-One?) styling on all fwd-awd models and Marquis. The XR6 and XR8 share more adventurous styling. (If they've lost the right to "xr", maybe use "Mach" as in speed-of-sound.) All Mercury sedans (& coupes) offer a 'dual-back', regular look but full hatch plus small trunklid - most hardware shared with Ford's hatches-that-look-like-hatches.
Hybrids are engineered to increase both fuel economy and performance over "unassisted" IC engines. (also see mechanical differentiation )
Prices shown are for 2010MY.
